Lend & borrow with confidence.

First things first: doop is a home for your gear. Catalog everything — renting is a per-piece choice, and plenty of pieces never leave the shelf. When gear does move, here's how doop keeps everyone safe.

Borrowing

1

Find the gear

Browse the wall — search by name, brand, or category, flip on the rent filter with your dates, cap the price. Everything is local.

2

Book with clear terms

The price you see is all-in — rate and fees, no surprises at checkout. Every rental has a clear deposit and plain-language responsibilities before you commit.

3

Pick up & play

Meet the owner, grab the gear, do your thing. Return it clean and the deposit hold is released.

Renting out (when you want to)

1

List in minutes

Snap a photo, set your daily price and deposit — we suggest both from your gear's replacement value. Or keep a piece showcase-only: on your dooplist, not for rent.

2

Approve who you want

Nothing moves without your yes — every request waits for your approval, or turn on Instant Book per piece when you'd rather skip the back-and-forth.

3

Earn on idle gear

Get paid for the gear sitting in your closet between gigs. Payouts land straight in your bank.

The trust layer

The four guardrails that make sharing expensive gear actually work.

Real people

Every member signs in with a real, email-verified account and a real profile, and every rental starts as a conversation — request, chat, agree. You always know whose hands your gear is in.

🛡️

Renter responsibility

Every renter agrees, before booking, to be responsible for the gear up to its replacement value from pickup until return — with the deposit as the first backstop.

💳

Secured deposits

A refundable deposit is held on the renter's card and released after both sides confirm a clean return.

🤝

Owner approval

Rentals aren't vending-machine transactions — every request is approved by the owner (or pre-approved with Instant Book, per piece, at the owner's choice).

Your data, plainly

The full policies are one click away — this is the honest summary of what doop keeps and why.

What we keep

  • Your account and the profile you choose to show.
  • Your dooplist — listings, photos, values. Serial numbers stay owner-private, never shown to anyone but you.
  • Bookings and money — dates, amounts, receipts. Cards live with Stripe; we never see or store card numbers.
  • The record of every rental — messages, two-sided handoff confirmations, deposit holds and releases, and how it went: on time, late, damaged, disputed.

Why we keep it

  • To run the marketplace and pay the right people the right amounts.
  • To hold and release deposits fairly, with a record behind every decision.
  • To settle disputes on evidence — timestamps, confirmations, and photos, not he-said-she-said.
  • To make gear-sharing safer over time — including, down the road, insurance-backed protection for rentals.

What we don't do

  • Sell your personal information. Ever.
  • Run advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
  • Publish private details — listings show a city, never a street address, and serial numbers never appear publicly.
  • Collect for collection's sake — only the cookies that sign you in and keep doop secure.

You can see the data we hold about you, correct it, or close your account — one email (privacy@dooplist.com), answered within 30 days. The privacy policy spells out those rights and everything above in full. Deposits and responsibilities live in the terms — §6 for deposits, §9 for cancellations and refunds.
